He has another piece like this in the Royal Ontario Museum of his wife while she was going through chemotherapy. He burned her hair for it. It’s really beautiful in a number of ways.
I was just wondering where you heard of Steven Spazuk (the artist) as well as his other artwork. The reason im curious is because his girlfriend is my mom, and the painting that was done with a brush made of her hair I saw in the process of being made and such. We were all just curious as to how you found out about him!
Not entirely, there was a lot of eraser use.
Actually it looks like the soot from the fire was manipulated with brushes and other textured objects, but not erasers: http://www.thisiscolossal.com/2012/02/drawing-with-fire/
Yep, absolutely right! Here is a video that documents his process: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Z9dBZHwDm8&feature=player_embedded
