They changed the canon on that. saying that instead of a unit of speed like is alluded to in the movie it’s referring to the fact that his ship is so fast it could make it through the asteroid field that everyone else had to go around.
You’re right. A parsec is a unit of distance. And that’s what the reference is. It doesn’t refer to how fast he did the run but the route he took while making the run. It’s like saying I made it from one city to another taking the most direct route taking into account road closures, accidents or traffic. Since there are so many black holes and anomolies, the routes on the Kessel run aren’t fixed. So each pilot who makes the run must plot the most direct route from point a to point b in the least amount of parsecs (distance) as possible.
Hopefully this little bit of lore will serve to erase any further confusion on this. And it’s brought to you by an Ubernerd.
They attempted to rectify that particular problem in the lore. The Kessel run was not a race but a smuggling route used by traders to avoid Imperial ships. The advanced navigation systems in the Millennium Falcon allowed them to find a route that reduced the distance, not necesarily time, required to complete the run.
Probably just Lucas explaining away a flub but it satisfied most fans.
okay, seriously disappointed here… dunno if i remember it wrong or if i’m just the first to correct this, but i THINK the line is “it made the kessel run in under six parsecs”… i’d have to watch the movie again but.
parsec= unit of distance not unit of time
L2 mesurement
and yes im know this is a starwars referance. However. it was wrong then and it is stil wrong now!
Could have been a few black holes along the way. Fly a little close, warp space and time, shorten the distance.
travelling near at or faster than the speed of light is a safer way of distorting space and time

Better..
This bucket of bolts has 200 parsecs on the odometer.. and it’s paid for!
parsec = 3.26 Light Years. That’s about 19 trillion miles.
200 parsecs = 3 quadrillion 800 trillion miles.
must be a Honda.
^^that.
What a piece of junk!
I just had to say that.
Folding space. The Dune universe collided with the Star Wars universe for an instant.
Par-Secsy !
