Would never be built here in the US. “Oh, what if a child decided to fall out of a window?” “There’s bars.” “Oh, well, they’ll hurt themselves on the bars if they try to. We can’t have that.”
Is in the US. Had a birthday party for my little cousin there. Also, wood has natural anti-bacterial properties, and is far cleaner than these stupid plastic playgrounds that have been popping up lately. I think you are thinking about some legislation that was getting pushed a few years back to replace wood playgrounds with plastic ones, but that was local government stuff, not a national law.
That’s so funny. Must have been built or designed by the same people as the one I grew up near in North Wales, PA. Not far away and they really look an awful lot alike.
I used to go to a park similar to this when I was a kid in PA, also. It’s interesting that there seem to be so many of these types of parks in Pennsylvania. Wonder if there’s one group who’s building them?
Actually this looks nearly identical to one in my home town in Pennsylvania. This one just doesn’t seem to have the billion mile long twirly slide ours had. I admit to biking there just to slide down it as a teen, cause it was just that awesome. Ours was called Castle Park.
Yeah, you’re an idiot. Maybe before you start ripping on the U.S. for not being able to have a playground like this, you should have made sure that this wasn’t FROM THE U.S..
They used to have an awesome place like this at Mount Trashmore here in VA. But they tore it down to make one of those wimpy plastic ones
It was called Kids’ Cove, and it was my childhood!
I just looked it up, and i have to say, I don’t care how much bigger or whatever the hype is about it, it looks terrible. The wooden one was so much cooler.
It looks just like a playground in a zoo in Tennessee. I think it might have been Knoxville…? I don’t remember but i played on one as a kid in Tennessee that looked just like this one.
Kid’s Castle in Central Park in Doylestown, Pa. I live right on the edge of the park and it is amazing. But don’t try to go in after dark because they have motion sensors that are connected to the police station right next door.
A year ago some punks went in and drew dirty appendages on all the little woodland creatures.
Oh man… I’ve been to that exact playground so many times. My little brother split his head open in it (but that was just him being dumb). It looks so much smaller now than when I was a little kid.
Massachusetts had a number of playgrounds in the same style, if not the same level of grandeur. There is still one in Concord, NH.
As I remember, there were concerns about the wood wearing out, and pieces (such as bridges and fence posts) rotting out. So one by one, they’ve been replaced by coated metal and plastic structures. It makes me sad.
There’s something like that in Orange, TX too. It was always a big deal to go, but once you were there, it was kind of boring and everyone just ran around in circles around the turrets.

Ya US cannot even use wood because of bacteria

What in this statement could have possibly required mo.deration?
Is every message getting this now, or is it just mine?
(Patience)
I enjoy eating pie and other such pastries. Do you?
Err.. that is in the US. It’s about a 20 minute drive from my house. That’s Kid’s Castle in Doylestown, PA.

They’re called leathers playgrounds. They usually use input from the children of the community, and then their parents help to build it.
There’s one EXACTLY like this in Branson, MO. I went there all the time as a kid,

This is in Pennsylvania.

As far as I know, and I should know seeing as I LIVE HERE, Doylestown, Pennsylvania is in fact part of the US.
Seriously? I know of one similar to the one in the picture that is in Oxford, Mississippi.
Um, that’s Kid’s Castle in Doylestown, PA. My family helped build it…good job.
Looks very similar to a structure here in my home town: Rainbow City.
Similar to one near my home; and yes, it is in the US. The Veteran’s Memorial Park in West Jordan, UT.
Um, this is in the US, and is pretty similar: http://www.cityofcarlsbadnm.com/PlaygroundOnThePecos.cfm
there are two in my home town.
and I am from Texas.
Pretty sure that this is Castle Park near Doylestown PA.
One day, this will be in my backyard.
AND NO ONE ELSE CAN HAVE IT.
Not if I get it first! *covets*
I claimed it FURST!
Jealous of the kids again.
inorite? Where was this kind of awesome when WE were kids…
… oh, wait. My school had a really awesome wooden fort structure they demolished to put up something plastic the year after I left. NVM.
when I was young, we didn’t have a castle like this.
Instead, we got a drakkar
A DRAKKAR !!!
Imagine kids with toy axes screaming down the drakkar to mock burn the whole playground …
:me gusta:
Holy crap! This looks just like Tugboat Island in Port Arthur, TX! My favorite epic playground as a kid <3 I hope they never take it down!!
I grew up there too! I love tugboat island and I take my kids there now
Aww I remember we had a place like this In Allentown, PA. I used to love going there when I was a kid. But sadly they tore it down
I thought this looked familiar! I’m originally from warrington PA. Ah the memories….
I used to go to something that looked a lot like this when I lived in SC.
Now I’m wondering if they have one around here…
They used to have an awesome place like this at Mount Trashmore here in VA. But they tore it down to make one of those wimpy plastic ones
It was called Kids’ Cove, and it was my childhood!
OMG, they tore it down!? When was this? It was still there when I visited (granted, about 7 years ago)
That sucks, I loved that playground. I use to take my little cousins just for an excuse to play on it.
I just looked it up, and i have to say, I don’t care how much bigger or whatever the hype is about it, it looks terrible. The wooden one was so much cooler.
The pyramidal roofs look like spike traps.
SOON
It looks just like a playground in a zoo in Tennessee. I think it might have been Knoxville…? I don’t remember but i played on one as a kid in Tennessee that looked just like this one.
It was Nashville Tennessee. Here is a link but the pic doesn’t do it much justice. http://brentwood.thefuntimesguide.com/2007/05/nashvillezooplayground.php
I never had anything quite as awesome as this as a kid…but I did have a hole that I dug in the ground and that was pretty damn close
There’s one back in my hometown in North Idaho now too.

Ah! Kid’s Castle! My boyfriend and I freaked when we saw this. Such an amazing park that’s just twenty minutes away from us!

Reminds me of the one in my old hometown… memories…
Oh man… I’ve been to that exact playground so many times. My little brother split his head open in it (but that was just him being dumb). It looks so much smaller now than when I was a little kid.
This is where wizarding kids younger than 11 go to school.

There’s something sort of like this, albeit much smaller, where I live.
I’ll take 2, please.
Used to go here all the time as a kid!
