This series of photographs was taken in the Maniwa and Okayama Prefectures of Japan. Using a slow shutter speed, the region’s mating fireflies create an amazing scene of neon light on the natural landscape. Check out all of them here, and more in the gallery below!

I’ve never seen a firefly in real life.
Me neither.
It’s funny when one hits your windshield…. Glowing bug juice everywhere!!! And DO NOT use the windshield wipers… my mistake.
Magical and beautiful! I want to lay in this field and watch the fireflies:)
OH GAWD! SPRIGGANS!
I’d like to make myself believe…. the planet earth tu-*GUNSHOT*
I’ve seen massive groupings of fireflies/lightning bugs light up pitch-dark fields several miles outside of Lansing, Michigan in the middle of summer. Really was an amazing sight.
Love it!
