Also, it played flawlessly on a first generation, non-MMX pentium 100Mhz with 48 Mb RAM, an 8Mb PCI video card, the ancestor of AGP that predated your actual PCIe, instead of the stuttering replay I get now

The rest of the world uses English. It is the “lingua franca” of the world at the moment. So to speak.

I saw a similar one…in either Tokyo or Kyoto, I can’t remember which just now.
There is one at the Shinkansen station in Kyoto. I haven’t seen one in Tokyo yet, but since Tokyo is HUGE there are probably several of these all over the place.

It’s not so much a screen as a printer. Everything starts at the top and scrolls down. Kinda like an inkjet with an infinitely long sheet of paper moving through it at constant speed. So no, you can’t show movies on it.

We have the same kind of water printer in some computer shops in France… except that the ‘screen’ height is 3 floors!
I can tell you, it’s a bit noisy and I wouldn’t be a employee working close to the water printer.
