noooo, the DeLorean is electrical, Doc explains that in part I. The Flux capacitor’s 1.21 Gigawatts (Great Scott!) came from nuclear power (part I); later fusion Power (Mr. Fusion).
No you mention it, though, the car’s gas line is damaged after the Indian’s attack in part III, though… plot hole? Gotta check this.
No, dumbass. There’s no plot hole.
Engine is regular gas and the Flux capacitor is electrical.
When Doc says the sucker is electrical he thinks Marty think the Flux capacitor runs on the engine as well.
Having driven one at about 125 mph, I can assure you you are wrong. That was the speed at which I decided I didn’t want to risk my life on a 25 year old suspension.
your both wrong the original car in the movie had a top seep of 80 mph if you don’t believe me check out episode 15 of Hollywood Treasure where they have the real one from the movie
It doesn’t have a “top speed” of 80mph, the speedometer read that because of a dumb law in the late 70′s/early 80′s that stated cars couldn’t have a speedometer that goes over 100. I would know- I took mine over 120.
The top speed on a DeLorean speedometer is 85 MPH, some have been updated and have the 140 MPH speedometer. (I personally would not want one with the 140 MPH speedometer as it is not original equipment to the car and would lower the restoration value). Also that is not a penis shaped “stain” it is the post on the button used to reset the odometer.
I’ll be honest with you, it’s expensive…but it’s worth it.

owner of an ’82, grey interior, manual DMC-12 (not this one, I have a stock speedometer in mine)
I also have an ’82, but the guy who owned mine previously had it copper plated so that it would look like it’s gold. I’m not complaining, it’s clear coated so it isn’t rusting into a green machine.
Actually the stock speedometer goes to 85, so you are wrong Scott, I actually do have one. And this picture came from DMCTalk.org, and its just a concept/mock up.
this ain’t funny.. it’s just a normal speedo..
Flux capacitor at 88mph baddie
He probably doesn’t even know what Flux Capacitor is… or why 88Mph is important number…
Kids these days. I blame the education system.
ya, stock Delorean speedometers didn’t go up to 88mph, they had to cut to a different prop for the movie.
It’s not supposed to be funny, it’s supposed to be awesome.
Guess what, it is awesome. I want one for my car.
Ah ha ha ha , 88 mpg, oh my G, I’m going to come!
88MPG? …. erm 88 miles per gallon would be freaking amazing for a Delorean. Maybe even more amazing than 88MPH making it go back in time.
Gallons of what, fuel? No, no, no. This sucker’s electrical.
I thought it ran on garbage?
Flux capacitor electrical, but car still runs on gas.

Ah, thanks a lot for your kind remarks and information! I understand that part now
That also happens to be a deloreans top speed.

Any1 else notice the spedometer is pointing to a penis shaped stain?
thats the trip ododmeter reset button it’s pointing at not a stain.lol
Odometer reset button…
All I see is the button you push in the reset the trip odometer….
it’s pointing to the trip odometer reset that sticks out of the dash (as it did in all cars before digital)
You’re all about penises, aren’t you?
The miles-to-kilometers ratio is off. 90 mph is 145 kph, not 140.
Sorry, but this is not the 88MPH mark. It is the mark for 140 kmh or 86,99 mph. You can tell from color and the position between the 80 and 90 mark.
And the picture of the flux capacitor is because ………..?
And how would it be 86.99 mph if its BETWEEN 80 and 90?
i love back to the future!!

The real spedometer only goes up to 80 mph, i have one sitting in my drive way.
Clearly you dont considering it actually goes up to 85. And I really DO have one sitting in my driveway. June 81, black interior automatic. 61K miles.

Wow! Im the one who created it and posted on DMCtalk and here it is!
Amazing!
It was done with a bit of fun in mind, being bored one evening.
My Delorean does have the 140mph speedo, installed by the previous owner. If yr a Delorean fan, through Facebook, search for “Delorean 01955″.
It’s very cool. I would love to have that spedometer in my car (not a Delorean tho).
