What?
This is eight kinds of awesome.
I cannot begin to imagine how you would think up, plan and build something as intricate and imaginative as this. Unbelievable! There should be Nobel prizes for this sort of thing…
one little fire and all is gone! think about that.
I was thinking tripping and falling into it. Or Wild West style bar fight being throwing into it.
and come out of it with toothpicks in your face
seems like an awesome idea
wow, wow and wow.
Did I say wow yet?
WOW, THAT GUY HAS GOT BALLS.
This would still be awesome even without the ‘kinetic aspect’. What an amazing work of artistry and ingenuity!
HOLY F@#$*&^ CRAP !!!!!!!!!!!!!
What a beautifull piece of Art & Engineering! Outstanding!
you have to be a pretty good engineer just to transport it. yo think its insured?
Now imagine this as a Roller Coaster at Disney’s California Adventure…
It’d be cooler if it wasn’t so old.
How long did it take to build that thing?
As a piece of art/kinetic sculpture I love it.
But now what do you do with it?
same as so many things, ya put your balls in t.
It took him 35 years to build it from start to finish, although it was a lot of on-and-off work for him.
Why do you guys post comments directed at that guy. It is not he that has posted the video here. This is not his youtube account
Hopefully I will not be bored enough in my life to even start such a project. Did he get a life sentence or what? Awsome skills though…
That is amazing. I so want to make something now out of toothpicks.
@Marginal_Crogeny—
Because toothpick technology has advanced so far since this was built?
Nice wireframe
I’ve seen this IRL – he displayed it at the California State Fair a couple years back. Really an incredible bit of work.
Also saw someone at Maker Fair whom I THINK was the same guy, doing matchstick work. He had a HAT that had a toothpick marble run on it. Very keen.
