at 2:23 some kind of sensor distinguishes basketballs and footballs and they get sorted. brilliant!
It’s the NXT light sensor, it comes with the mindstorms nxt set
I saw “football” and went “huh?” then I realized that Soccer=football in most countries.
(A game where we throw an oddly shaped ball around and only rarely use our feet? Lets call that football. What about the game where you kick the ball around and aren’t allowed to use your hands? Screw it! Soccer! lol)
I’ve worked at a few factories for summer jobs and can still appreciate this even though they are dreadful places in real life. I’ve always wondered who engineers all that elaborate machinery…

I was only going to watch a minute or two of this, got sucked into watching it all. I wish I had that many legos and gadgets, would have so much fun!

that is the greatest epic win in history
I don’t like this one bit. At one point it sorts balls into Basket vs. Soccer then 30 seconds later it puts them back together!!! Then at one point there’s soccer balls going through a basketball hoop, which just confused me. Then at the end it just takes everything back to the start making and endless loop!! This wasn’t planned out well at all.
This isn’t a factory machine. He made it to kill time. It doesn’t have to be efficient and perfect for someones HOBBY.
But think about how much more efficient and awesome his life would be if this contraption served a purpose of some sort. It could have easily sorted balls into seperate containers for storage. Or been used as a clean up device after his bratty child left his toys all over the basement. Or it could make him breakfast. Instead it simply moves balls from one spot TO THE EXACT SAME SPOT. And not very efficiantly at that. Did you see how many balls fell off the machine? Think of the man hours required to clean up all those spilled balls. Who’s going to pay for that?
making breakfast wont work with lego’s (to the people who where going to comment challenge accepted: please videotape you trying to make a lego thing that can make breakfast, i want to see your face when you fail) and the same goes for something that cleans up the entire basement.
