  1. flinch says:

    Me Gusta.

  2. Sir or Mister says:

Nice one Lisa! That video belongs on comedy central.

    • TheRowdyRef says:

Maybe Comedy Central will start “sponsoring” these protests with continued donations for each protester? Would be a total marketing coup for those guys–even us straight guys hate what they do…. But, because we ACTUALLY READ the New Testament and understand the love from god, we still pray for these misguided idiots….

Perhaps this might inspire them to stop the protests? and for once, everybody WINS?

(sorry, I tend to rant about those guys…)

      • Juno says:

I rant too, so I get where you’re coming from. Who knows? Maybe our prayers will work and they’ll see how misguided they are :)

  3. Squiddly says:

That cheered me up :D .

  4. Junkatron says:

The great thing is that this works in reverse too! Pro-lifers can donate cash for every warm body at a pro-abortion event.

    • Spikeitup says:

      What is a pro-abortion event?

      • andyweber says:

You can go to any developing country in the world and see a pro-abortion event every week, mainly sponsored by US foundations, like International Planned Parenthood, Ford Foundation, and so on…
And yes, there are not more than 20 morons on each, asking for legal abortion.

        • Shelby says:

There are tons of cases where abortion is completely acceptable. As regular birth control, no. If a woman’s been raped, yes, it’s acceptable. If a woman will die without it, then yes, it’s acceptable.

If you don’t want an abortion, don’t get one. You do NOT, however, have the right to make that choice for others.

        • Biffbiffley says:

Um.. where did you hear this.. Fox news? Your pastor?

          The onion maybe?

          proof or it didn’t happen.

Also, I would like to point something out.

Most christian churches believe that a child is without sin and will be delivered to heaven if they die. Most believe the world is very corrupt.

Most believe that the kind of person who would have an abortion isn’t likely to get into heaven or raise their kid this way.

so logically by disallowing abortion you are cutting that kid’s best chance to be brought to heaven off.

No I don’t really believe this, but I just wanted to make a point that you can pretty much argue anythign you want from basic Christian beliefs.

          • andyweber says:

You must be a nitwit of astronomical proportions.
If you don’t see it on TV it didn’t happen, really?
            Ok, let’s see:
Ford Foundation is supporting with money, CELS, an important pro-abortion foundation here in Argentina: you can see it in http://bit.ly/mQvlRV
Why in heaven is Ford Foundation giving money to a comunist organization like CELS?
If you go to IPPF page, they openly admit it: look at the first paragraph: http://bit.ly/kbmUnL
According to our Health Authorithy, during 2009, only 87 women died here in Argentina because they have an abortion. Why are they trying to promote abortion in Argentina?

      • Derek says:

        A Justin Bieber concert.

    • Clover Goldngreen says:

      And that’s great how?

    • Max Headwound says:

“Pro-lifers can donate cash for every warm body at a pro-abortion event.”

      Can…won’t.

Pro-lifers don’t really give a fart about their issue–otherwise they’d be equally active over all the other things that kill children in far greater numbers. They just want to get their holier-than-thou on, work on their pickled-fetus collections, and scream at frightened women.

      • Map 'o Tassie says:

        ^ this

      • roxborotomm says:

Funny thing about the right wing pro-lifers. They want to take away any government support to help raise unwanted kids. It is a domino effect. If you take away abortion rights, then you need national healthcare and other social programs. (which most conservatives don’t want). Most of this crap goes hand in hand. I could go on, but I am getting a headache just thinking of it. I say Soylent Green is our real answer!

      • VJ says:

Slow clap for Max. (And Rox.)

  5. Walrus Bites says:

This isn’t a fail, or even humorous. Stop posting this political crap and give me lols!

  6. Niegel says:

ewwww i dont like it in the rear :S

  7. Kazza says:

WIN!! Using their hate againt them!

  8. MamaBear says:

It sickens me that people like that are part of my state. By NO means do they represent Kansans! What gets me the most is that they get the kids involved. Poor brainwashed little bastards!

    • Biffbiffley says:

      My first front page, yay!

And with that said. I have had very mixed feelings with the Supreme courts decision to protect the speech of these horrible people.

On one hand they can’t be sued as long as they stay within the law. On the other hand if the speech from these asshats is protected as vile as it is.. well it just leads me to believe freedom of speech is taken as seriously as it ought to be.

with that said, this is a genius way to deal with the problem, and why I think ti’s total win.

And no ma’am. I never thought the WBC was representative of anyone save themselves considering they peaked at less than 100 members.

Also, for the record, they’re a church in name only.

It’s only a matter of time until they’re literally destroyed by an angry mob. It’s nearly happened already. And I seriously doubt the police would be too enthusastic to deal with the case.

      • kosher ham says:

Any acts of aggression against them results in a lawsuit. They verbally abuse others in the hopes someone will punch them in the face so they can sue. Too bad Texas has a “Fighting words” clause that means if they verbally assault me, I can hit them back. (Not that I would, I’m far more bark than bite. And I don’t want to learn the hard way that I’m wrong on the “Fighting Words” thing.)

      • Chessolin says:

Yeah it’s best not to use physical violence in this case, as it only ‘proves their point’ about how horrible the rest of us are. And even if the poor kids are brainwashed, you shouldn’t hurt them. However, if they were to attack someone, then it’s fine to use some measure of violence if necessary.

tl;dr – Be nice to your enemies. They hate that.

    • SpaceMonkey says:

Yeah, my thought when I watched this was that the truly hilarious part is how many kids were there to protest. “Kids, we’re cancelling the picnic, we have some important business to attend to.”

      • Snark says:

God forbid they go to college. What will happen to their upcoming generation if they go to a place where they have to broaden their mental horizons? Alas, it will be the end of them . . .

  9. Tsu says:

lol they owned themselves with that chant

  10. Justin says:

Anyone know what song the church members are singing?

  11. TrekkieChick says:

The Westboro Baptists make me sick. Whenever they protest or even open their mouths, I’ll bet God is up there facepalming.

  12. Tsmp says:

Westboro Baptist Church: What you get when a lawyer reads the bible.

  13. ILikeShinyThings says:

I utterly despise these people. I’m so glad this lady found such a clever way to use their hatred and bigotry against them. One of them actually sent me a message on Facebook once while my son was deployed, saying she’d praise God if he was blown to bits. THERE IS NO GOD IN THAT.

    • Jessica says:

She’s not the first. :) The LGBT group at the University of Kansas hosts an annual Brown Bag Drag Show in front of the Union- bring your lunch and watch the show. Several years ago (I graduated in ’05) they took pledges per minute the WBC protested them. When the WBC found out they were making $100 a minute for the LGBT group…well, you’d've thought a tornado had swept through, they left so fast. As the LGBT group said, it was a win-win situation: either they got money, or they got left alone.
It’s the only tactic I’ve ever heard of that works against the WBC. They are seeking martyrdom, and they sue anyone who hits them, to be able to finance their next roadtrip. Yelling at them only makes them feel validated that they’re doing God’s work in a sinful world.

  14. Biocore says:

    LIKE A BOSS

  15. keshet says:

    Go Lisa!

  16. jd says:

I see what you did there…

  17. Seriously? says:

Uhm…how is this a WIN? They are queer and take it in the rear? Seriously! AIDS is life FAIL!

    • Bee says:

Go read a biology book and come back when you have learned something.

    • aunt_deen says:

I KNOW! It’s so comforting to know that anal sex is the only way to get AIDS. I sleep so much better at night.

      • A guy says:

According to the CDC, in 2009, of the 31,872 infections known in the United states, 23,846 (74%) of them came from male to male sexual contact, as opposed to the 4,399 (13%) that came from heterosexual contact, even considering that gays are only estimated to be 10% of the population. This proves that anal sex is far more likely to transmit the disease, if not the only way.

        • poiuyt says:

ehm no, it proves that gay people don’t use condoms that often since they can’t get pregnant. If you’ve read a little more about this subject you’d know that statistically gay people have unprotected sex far more often than heterosexual people (probably because of the reason i’ve mentioned above) and because of that they get aids more often.

      • roxborotomm says:

Damn, then my wife got AIDS last night…

    • Idia says:

The chanting isn’t the win. The fact that she donated $20,000 the the opposite of their cause BECAUSE THEY SHOWED UP, is a win.

She demolished any work they “did”.

    • Chris says:

Yes, STD’s are easier to transmit via anal sex than many other types of sex. But one of the people still has to have the STD in question– and they have to not use condoms. Anal sex does not automatically equal ANYTHING.

  18. Emily says:

ILikeShinyThings—That is absolutely awful! I’m so sorry they targeted you and your son with such a hateful comment. I, for one, hope that your son returned safely.

I love Lisa Lampanelli and I’m so glad that she did this. I don’t personally think that God is the jerk that the WBC people make him out to be. I think he’s a lot nicer than that!

Plus, he obviously loves gay people. Who wouldn’t? They’re just like everyone else (except the WBC-ers).

  19. Multi-Facets says:

“I love it when a plan comes together.” ^n_n^

And look at all those protesters trying to pretend they didn’t just get pwned. Too bad they didn’t learn that the best way to save face is to keep the lower half shut.

  20. Daniel says:

You have to feel sorry for the kids that WBC have brainwashed to go to these protests. You can bet their participation is non-negotiable too.

    • pizzashoepie says:

thats what i thought too. it reminded me of a cult. did you see the look of just abject disappointment on their faces? i bet their parents just don’t tell them what to expect, and try to harden them by letting the world call them names.

it doesn’t sit well with me. i hope most of those poor buggers leave when they get the chance :(

  21. Yourfriendlyneighborhoodninja says:

I have already found two comments that say the kids in this video have been brainwashed. I would like everyone to think about this for a moment. Are we not using such a phrase to really mean, “Why didn’t those parents raise their kids the way I did?” C’mon people, it is only natural that kids believe what their parents tell them –regardless of whether we agree with such beliefs.

    • Snark says:

Just because all children who spend a lot of time with their parents are brainwashed doesn’t mean the WBC kids aren’t.

      • Yourfriendlyneighborhoodninja says:

I still disagree, but I guess college has brainwashed me into believing there is no such thing as brainwashing.

        • calilac says:

Please reflect on the term “generalization” for a moment. Seems that the term brainwashing does get thrown around a bit when folks disagree, like you said, but the technique of brainwashing does exist and is used. These kids in WBC aren’t examples of it. You’ve got a few more semesters to go before you can imply you know better than everyone else. Good luck.

    • pizzashoepie says:

i don’t think that’s what people mean by ‘brain-washing’. i think they mean it looks like the kids didn’t necessarily choose to be there, is all. its hard to look at extremists and not think “they’re taking advantage of young ones who werent exposed to anything else”

because i know for a fact most parents at least inform their kids about subjects and let them make their own decisions. except bobby bouchee’s momma, but that turned out fine too in the end.

basically, no, no we are not using that phrase like that.

  22. DT says:

Wow… that’s brilliant. I can’t think of a faster or more effective way to keep protesters from picketing things.

  23. aleksa says:

I don’t care for her comedy, but I totally support her on this one. WIN.

    • Darth Hater says:

Agreed. I don’t think LL is particularly funny or entertaining but at least she calls out WBC for the nuts that they are. Seriously… WTF is wrong with these people anyway?

  24. Rwl says:

    AAAWWWWW YEEAAAAHH!
This is so full of WIN :D

  25. aunt_deen says:

    SHE IS MY G*DDAMN HERO.

  26. noobface says:

    only 20 people showed up?

    • aunt_deen says:

There aren’t many more than that in the whole church. The WBC is a small group of crazies that gets a lot of press because their hate is so over-the-top and vicious.

    • nmf says:

there were actually 44, and she later said on facebook it was going to be a 50k check.

  27. megs says:

The people of Westboro Baptist Church are just carnies without the fun.

  28. Innocent Bystander says:

Not mentioned in the video or the comments so far, but I believe she also arranged for the Gay Men’s Health Crisis people to send thank-you letters to all the picketers, thanking them for their kindly donations.

THAT bit really makes me smile.

  29. Andrew says:

    Wait…God H8s Mockers?

Seriously? That’s the best sign they can come up with?

“Don’t you dare mock us! God hates mockers!”

  30. Lolabonne says:

I’m not a big fan of Lisa Lampanelli, but after this, I think I might be.

    • Bliko says:

Meh. She’s okay. Kind of a one trick pony. Gets old quick. But this is a great response to WBC protests

  31. Flight Eagle says:

The guy with the blue shirt and beard looks like an NPC from Dragon Age.

    That is my thought process.

  32. sirfancypants says:

    that’s so gay

  33. Goggles says:

    Seconded. I refuse to listen to her crappy standup;
but this has drastically improved my impression of her

  34. MovieSuz says:

    Loved it!
