I have no idea why this is a WIN.

  2. Frank says:

I’m glad I’m not the only one, jc. Unless there’s a smiley face, with the inner triangle as the mouth.

  3. Forsaken Billy says:

    Yay Hojo clan?

    I second that!

  5. Dan says:

look at the top, someone already took the master sword.

  6. Dances with Lasagna says:

All I see is a droopy pee-pee at the three-o’clock position of that large triangle.

Paging Doctor Freud! Paging Doctor Freud!!

  7. Doctor Whodunnit says:

Eureka! The resting place of the Master Sword has finally been uncovered.

  9. Flight Eagle says:

Not only is it that Hojo clan thing, but the, let’s say “Triforce”, is also an alchemical symbol.

I doubt the Hojo clan symbol would be complete without the clouds around the triangles, soooo….

Anyway, i’m totally getting the Triforce on my tomb stone… or urn, if i am cremated. Or maybe i’ll go hipster and get the Hylian Shield instead.

  10. Mo says:

Not even a tomb. It says “offering” on it, and I believe it’s a hand washing station where you cleanse yourself before going up to pray.

  11. Moya says:

Um, yeah, that’s not a tomb. That symbol isn’t a family crest–it’s a Buddhist symbol that appears a lot, especially in Japan. And I’m eighty percent sure that this is one of the places that you wash your hands/mouth at.

Yes, I know that it’s supposed to be Shintoism that has the hand washing and Buddhism with the symbols. I was taught that in class. It isn’t nearly as clear cut as they teach you it is.

…I know this post is going to get ignored, but I just finished my Japanese Studies senior thesis… And I haven’t slept enough in weeks.

    • Moya says:

My bad. I looked it up, and the origin of the symbol is indeed the Hojo family crest. I highly doubt that’s how it’s actually viewed in Japan, though; it’s primarily associated with Buddhism, in my experience.
