kevin smith is my hero. this is why.

  2. ASMonymous says:

Love Kev’s press whoring! I wonder if this is a subtle reference to the SModcast where Kev and Scott talked about switching religions to worship the ancient Norse gods? Who wouldn’t want to be hauled off to that big beer hall in the sky by a bunch of half naked chicks!

  3. Jojo says:

I think this is one of the counter-protests to the Westboro Baptist Church’s protests of gays. I love Kevin Smith. He’s hilarious.

    WBC can go to hell!

    • TS says:

Fred Phelps and WBC are just trying to get people to attack them or deny them permits so they can sue. The best thing to do is ignore them… but mocking them works pretty well, too.

  4. WP88 says:

    anti-Christian liberal media fa ggots

    • derp says:

      Yeah… aren’t they swell?

      • WP88 says:

kevin smith is a catholic NOT A CHRISTIAN so i would expect nothing esle from him and his smutty god mocking films

        • derp says:

Yeah, Dogma was awesome! I’m sure he’d be glad to know you watched it.

        • me says:

Did you know that Catholic is one of the main branches of the Christian religion. They also believe in God. Please do some research before making an idiot out of yourself.

          • Aleksandr says:

It depends on the person that is Catholic. If they meet the requirements Jesus put in the Bible, or they are just calling themselves ‘Christian’.

        • Bookworm says:

Last time I checked, Catholics DO follow Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, thereby qualifying them as “Christians.” So sorry to burst your little bubble there.

Or are you implying that some Christian denominations are somehow “better” than others, or more valid? If so… apparently you must have been sick the day they taught “judge not lest ye be judged” in Sunday School.

          • Aleksandr says:

Again, it depends on the person. If they have professed with their mouths and believe in their hearts that Jesus is Lord and Saviour who died for them and rose again… then they are Christian. There are quite a few fakes who don’t really believe, you know.

        • John says:

You don’t consider Catholics a subset of Christians? Cause they are …

          • derp says:

I was going to go that route but figured playing dumb would be more fun.

              • Reality says:

Catholics kinda invented the word “Christian”, they came first out of all “Christian” religions because they were the ones who converted from Judiasm to worship Jesus, hence CHRISTians, dumbass

                • DannyBoy says:

“Catholics kinda invented the word ‘Christian’”, wow…..It’s even in the Bible that the Antiochian government first came up with the term Christian. Roman Catholicism as it is seen today did not even start until the beginning of the Middle Ages (400AD+), before that it was just the persecuted minority known as Christians or followers of the Way.

                • senselocke says:

Uh, no. Dear Gourd, no. Read about the Nicene Convention–Catholics were the most prolific early Christians, but were not the first, nor the ones who named the faith. In fact, the only reason the Catholics did so well so early on was they managed to convert the Roman emperor–all the other sects were still killed en masse, so there were more Catholics early on. The Gnostics and several other factions predated them.

Acts 11:26, states “…in Antioch the disciples were first called Christians.” Whereas the term “Catholic” came into use for the first time in 107 AD, referring to a sect of Christians.

              • this one says:

WP88—wow! you’re just as much of an a$$ as the WBC peeps! Good luck with that

              • Zeej says:

                http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/catholicism

Look I can post links too!

Thing is, mine is more reputable than yours. Definition of Catholicism is the practice of Catholic Christianity.

            • Wolly says:

              God doesn’t exist.

          • Joy-Rider says:

            Truth.

          • starling says:

You get protestants who separate Christians and Catholics, yup.

You also get really dumb people.

          • XCodes says:

While technically true, I think it’s more common today for Christian to simply apply to non-Catholic Christians, as the term Protestant really isn’t used all that much anymore. What’s more, in my experience it seems that Catholics prefer being called Catholics as opposed to Christians. I can understand why. I mean, nobody wants to be mistaken for a Mormon, am I right?

            • H says:

Well, I’m Catholic and I don’t mind being called Christian, but I prefer Catholic, just as I’m sure Mormons prefer being called Mormons than just Christian.
              You make very good points.

        • SarahP says:

The Christian ‘god’, especially in the OT, is one of the most vile creatures in all of fiction. It deserves nothing but mockery, including your completely backward moral sense. “Smutty god mocking” isn’t a pejorative to thinking people.

          • RoXas Saix says:

Well, although religion can be bad at times, having ‘faith’ in something is a very powerful thing. Faith is sometimes the only thing people have.

If you notice, religious people who have cancer seem to last longer then the ones that are whining about how God hates them. Hmmm…

            • Orly says:

Fail. Both people in your example belive in an imaginary friend. But thanks for making other people’s point. ;)

        • Bearfoot says:

And such lovely lovely hate from a pathetic douchebag.

Let he who is without sin cast the first stone bucko.

        • Lol says:

And that’s how you spot an american

        • dude says:

          Ummmm… Catholics are Christians…

        • senior taco says:

catholic is a branch of Christianity so you just contradicted yourself

        • John M says:

Catholicism is a sect of Christianity. Actually, it and Orthodoxy are the original Christian churches.

Everything else is a recent development. If you are Evangelical or one of the newer religions born in the US, it’s a tad hysterical that you would think yourself ‘more Christian’ than someone else.

Especially given the fact that most of the modern (read: irritating, loud) US Christian sects came from a failed doomsday cult.

    • Ummm says:

      1) Kevin is straight.
      2) They are counter protesting the WBC (the group that protests soldier funerals with “thank god for IEDs” and “thank god for dead soldiers” and “god hates America” and so on). If opposing them means you are an “anti-Christian liberal,” then everyone should be … and basically is already (hint* Virtually every non-WBC Christian opposes them).

    • fefnir says:

      Anti-Christian? I think you mean anti-anythingthatdoesn’tacceptourlifestyle

    • Fubar says:

Goodness me! Did someone jam a stick up your ass or are you this lovely all the time…

    • Ryan says:

Its funny you say “anti-Christian liberal…” because he is protesting against the Westboro Baptist protesters… The same people who protest against gays, Jews, funerals of fallen soldiers and anything else that isn’t Christian… This is a win because Kevin Smith isn’t an ass like you.

    • swooshbear says:

      Christian extremist trolls be trolling

    • Duaner says:

      Trolololo?

    • Chixdiggit says:

  6. pinkpiiggy says:

    Where is the win??

  7. JCub says:

I <3 Kevin Smith … and his cute friend to the left!

  8. wolfcheese says:

Did that guy on the right really refer to Leviticus? As if Christians actually follow all the rules in a book that doesn’t even apply to our faith. It’s sad the lengths so-called Christians go to when twisting a population of people into a fake sin.

    • Jamie says:

I’m gathering that his sign says that polyester is a sin.

      • Callista says:

Probably referring to the Jewish custom regarding mixed fibers in clothes.

For the record, it was a cultural thing meant to set them apart as a nation, not a moral dictate. Kind of the way you don’t wear the opposing team’s colors to the home game.

        • Deacon Blues says:

As was the dictate, in the same book, against homosexual behavior – it was to help distinguish the Israelites from, for instance, the Caananites, who apparently were a bit more open-minded.

The point is, however, that the people who rail against homosexuality because of the Bible proudly proclaim that they believe *every word in it to be the literal truth*, yet they gad about in mixed-fiber clothing and refuse to take slaves from neighboring nations…

      • Arsnof says:

Yep. According to Leviticus 19:19, wearing mixed fibers is a sin. That 50/50 blend is sending you to HELL!

    • Jake says:

Kevin is protesting the Westburo Baptist Church, the “god hates F*gs,” “god hates America,” “thank god for IEDs,” “thank god for dead soldiers,” etc people. I’m sure there are all kinds of ridiculous biblical quotes nearby.

  9. Nacho says:

Anything involving Kevin Smith is not a win. The guy is an obnoxious douche.

  10. siponarius says:

Pretty sure that’s Malcolm on the left. And I think the Thor is a reference to one of his SMods where him and Scott talk about switching religions to ancient norse…

  11. picgirl7 says:

Does the other sign say “you lick it before i picket”

  12. C00kie says:

    ITS GUS FROM ROOSTERTEETH

  13. I am Thor says:

HEY! WTF?! Next time he pulls out an umbrella…

  14. Faye says:

I’m an athorist, I don’t believe in Thor. The Invisible Pink Unicorn hates homophobes though, and She knows what’s what because She is so powerful She can be invisible AND pink at the same time. Just FYI.

    • Taco says:

Ohh the Invisible Pink Unicorn. May she bless you with her holy hooves!!

    • Orly says:

Oh, and seriously people, you DON’T want to find out what she does to homophobes. Let’s just remember she is a Unicorn, and that although she is both Invisible and Pink, her horn you can’t ignore…

  15. nbreiner says:

Just as a side note, Catholics were actually the first organized Christian church. Just wanted to take a break from the downward spiral. Please feel free to continue being d-bags. Cheers!

  16. Centrifugal_Aardvark says:

I’m curious about the context of this photo. Were they actually protesting Westboro Baptist Church, or is this a scene from a movie, or what?

  17. Melanisia says:

All hail the great and powerful hypnotoad!

  18. mm says:

    No, FAIL.

The guy holding the Leviticus sign is a fail too. Jews still follow the Mosaic laws, but Christians don’t. But the disapproval of gay relationships is repeated in the new testament as well. That’s why conservative Christians still speak against it.

    • Deacon Blues says:

      Um, no.

Peter’s vision, in Acts, merely made it okay to eat treyf – the rest of the Law was supposed to be untouched. Try reading *all* of the Bible, not just the parts your preacher recommends…

    • slaggingham says:

      Only by Paul.

And honestly, who the **** is Paul to come in, claim to be a tax collector who “saw the light,” and practically take over the Christian religion from anybody with any ACTUAL authority?

Paul has no more moral authority than… Jimmy Swaggart or Oral Roberts.

    • BuB says:

I totally follow, to the letter, EVERYTHING that Jesus Christ says about homosexuality; hence, I am Christ-like, a follower of His doctrine.

  19. Joe Strummer says:

The Anti-Gay group members are douchbags, sad to see the pro gay groups taking up their tactics. Anyone want to join me for the “I don’t give a f**k rally” It will be at the local bar of your choosing, held virtually at any time. Hoist your second beverage of choice to “Not giving a f**k” and the meeting is complete.

  20. Joy-Rider says:

I think we’re all missing the big picture here… THOR IS STRAIGHT! Thor is in a relationship with Sif and his counter-part (Donald Blake) is in a relationship with Jane Foster. I think this is a fail!

  21. pdxlurker says:

That made me laugh too … yummy. Good choice of words. lol

  22. Captain Awesfull says:

Normally i love Kevin Smith, but Thor is no hater, he is mis-using one of the greatest gods. What a shame.

  23. Unknown says:

    Do you really taste yummy?

  24. Cthippo says:

Did you see the one to the right?

“You must lick it before you picket”

  25. John M says:

I worship God, and I’m willing to bet I’m smarter than you are.

Not that it has any bearing whatsoever on any conversation. Your ego is out of check. Your intellectual superiority complex rivals the moral superiority complex of the most brazen Sunday morning televangelist.

Not all believers are stupid and fortunately we know that not all Atheists are a**holes.

    • Princeps says:

I’ll be ironic here and say amen.
Unfortunately, many of the people who get religious press are evangelical extremists.

    • Hapax says:

Very well spoken. I’ll need to remember that for when I need an eloquent way to tell someone to bug off.

  26. slaggingham says:

    Incidentally, while I’m at it…

    *Holds up his own sign*

    “COYOTE HATES STUPID!!!”

  27. candlestick says:

    I have one

  28. Cecil says:

This is complete and total win all the way around. Ya’ll know Thor was hung like a damned pony. Gods of that Era were serious BAMFs. Not that Jehovah isn’t, I mean I’d probably pick him over Thor in a fist fight. The thing is, I seriously doubt either one would give a crap about whether or not two dudes got their freak on either way.

  29. Hirushi says:

I would like to point out that it’s not just the old testament that condemns homosexuality. There are parts of the New Testament that condemn it as well. If you read Romans, it’s like the first thing you come across. Also, while the Catholic Church proclaims itself to be bible following, much of their doctrine is heretical, with claims that the Pope is God, and above the angels. They also claim to have the authority to change the laws set down in the bible, such as changing the day of worship from the 7th day sabbath that the Jews still follow to the 1st day of the week, Sunday, which draws obvious parallels to other, non-christian worshiping groups, such as Sun worshipers. Just saying.

  30. Baccar Wozat says:

Let’s see here… Marvel’s movie Thor and comic Thor are both straight and have straight friends… the mythological Thor was straight and had straight friends… the original Thor, King of Ancient Germany was straight and had straight friends…

    Kevin, uru certain about this?

    • Princeps says:

He’s mocking them. Thesis: “God hates F*gs”; antithesis (or close to it): “Thor hates straights”

      get it now?

  31. RChicky says:

Anybody who mocks those Westboro hate-mongers are a total win in my book! Its too bad that Jason Mewes wasn’t along…I bet they could’ve had some real fun then… ^_^

Oh, and its actually the FSM that hates the haters… Be touched by HIS noodly appendage, arrr!

  32. nothing.clever says:

I’m a Christian and pro gay
    Yes, we do exist
It’s these ass wipes that give us a bad name.

    Kevin Smith is pure awesomeness
