  1. /%& says:

    Wow, I’m impressed!

    • PirateJohn says:

Makes me wonder, though… Why didn’t the people in the van just get the hell out?

      • Dr. Dot, assistant chief economist, Sealand says:

There may have only been one ‘people’ in the van. It’s also possible that the ‘people’, regardless of number, were less than fully able (sorry — gimps. My PCuretts(*) kicks in occasionally). Fact is, that was a serious win.

(*) PCuretts. Like turetts, but instead of random curse words, I spout random politically correct phrases.

  2. Bloragal says:

WOW!!! Anyone else notice the guy in the car at the top of the screen? What a lazy douche he cant help those people.

    • Dr. Dot, assistant chief economist, Sealand says:

Anyone else notice how far the guy in the car at the top of the screen was away from the stalled vehicle? and that any attempt to assist would have either made failblog.org or left him splattered all over the front of the train? C’mon, people. Physics. It’s not that difficult.

  3. Logbin says:

    Can you say Hero !!

  4. Freerefill says:

    Nice one, dude!

  5. Locce says:

    Balls of steel.

  6. Batard says:

You beat me to it Locce.

  7. Mike says:

Does the van put on its breaks or is it a manual and the van is jerking as it starts?

  8. Obama's teleprompter says:

    HERO

    wow

  9. noob says:

That happened in Argentina, most of the cars are manual.

  10. elbasto says:

Most vehicles in that country are manual (over 98%). That took place in the city of “Tigre” in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

  11. starling says:

    Woah!

  12. dude says:

    holy crap!

  13. Svant says:

Whoa! If this is for real then that guy deserves a huge shiny medal and parade on his every birthday for the rest of his life and beyond!

  14. Hustlah says:

I just chekked the authenticity of this gif out… it’s real! that guy is a freaking hero! If all just would behave like him, the world would be an awesome place! (we would have a lot more accidents with ppl getting hit by trians, but you get my point)

  15. Zort says:

This was in Argentina, ere you got the full video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gCQj_0khAiQ

  16. Zuby says:

Seeing this really helps to restore my faith in the goodness of humanity. Svant, I agree with you completely. I wonder if this man fully understands how his act may very well have saved a lot of lives. We need more people like this guy!

  17. Leo says:

    it was real.

not proud to say that this happend in my country. (not proud because the idiot who drives)

  18. kikkoman says:

Kind of amusing how the gif has been sped up way much to make it more dramatic

    • shell says:

thats what i was thinking second look the train was not going as fast he had time to get out of the way. but still hero

    • Catty says:

I noticed that after watching the video. The gif makes it look like the train wasn’t stopping. Still, even with the real one, the people in the van would have been seriously injured, if not killed. :/

    • yo says:

It’s not speed up. this happened in Chaplin times.

  19. r says:

    never in america

    • jerome says:

I’m not american, but it does happen in america too : http://www.nytimes.com/2007/01/03/nyregion/03life.html

    • Chuck says:

Yes, because the idiot that tried to drive around the barriers would have been allowed to get what he had coming to him.

    • that guy says:

You’re absolutely right. In America, we’re much smarter. When the barriers are down we know to not try to drive through.

      • Yuukiko_Ogawa says:

        I wouldn’t be so sure about that…

I know we’ve had some major issues with stupidity in regards to our light rail system here in the US. The one that sticks in my mind the most is the female jogger who ran RIGHT INTO THE SIDE OF THE MOVING TRAIN despite flashing lights and alarms everywhere. There was a witness sitting in his car with his heavy metal music turned up really loud, and he could still hear the Train Crossing alarm loud and clear…and that idiot jogger just kept running…

Thankfully for everyone else involved, no one was hurt particularly bad. The train was still in testing so there weren’t any passengers.

There are idiots everywhere who believe that they’re invincible and don’t have to obey barriers and signs that are put there for their own safety. It’s not even unique to humans, the only difference being that animals that are stupid or brazen enough to ignore warnings usually end up dead and out of the gene pool.

      • LongLiveHumour says:

        Yes?

      • sarsh says:

not true… I have to pass through a train crossing every day to go to work and see people drive around all the time. Once a train had stopped just after it made it all the way through the intersection but the gates were still down so people started to go around… people on one side could not see the 2nd oncomming train because the first was in their way but they continued to go around the gates. two trucks were almost hit when the second train came… soooo lucky no one got hurt! but yes, this DOES happen in America! I think the people in that situation were more stupid than the person driving the vehicle in this video…

    • Ryan Waxx says:

      Why not in America?

We have our share of fools, like the person who ran the gates.
We have our share of heroes, like the guy who pushed the vehicle.

Though we don’t have as much rail as many other countries, so this situation may be less likely.

    • r u talkin’ about USA or about the american continent? cuz it happened in Argentina, dude

  20. Paul C says:

so the gif made it look far more dangerous… anyway… what idiots try and drive across when the barriers are already down?

  21. IndiaMommy says:

God Bless Argentina. All drivers here are “professionals” that’s why we have so many dead people on car accidents every year…
    So proud… ¬¬

  22. Arise Nohow says:

    wow.
    what a heroic win.

  23. Daniel Tosh says:

Whoever that was in the car, GTFO!!

  24. Parkersmom says:

It’s also possible the van was crossing the tracks BEFORE the barriers went down.

    • cde says:

No, watch the video. The red and the white cars both go around the barrier.

That said, even if the car was hit, with the way the bus/train/thing was slowing down, it wouldn’t have been fatal. Hell, the driver was clear of the tracks, just the back of the car was stuck.

      • Anonymous says:

It was not the driver of the van that was in serious danger, but the unsuspecting passengers of the train. Heck, they were probably not in a life or death situation, but there more than likely would have been more than a few major injuries in a train and car colision.

      • piq says:

O RLY? Compared to a car, a train has a *tremendous* amount of kinetic energy, even at a low speed – had it impacted, the car would be either a) catapulted out, or b) turned into a sardine can *underneath* the train. Either looks pretty dangerous to me, esp. as the train would definitely impact from the driver’s side. In my city, light rail semi-regularly collides with cars (car driver cuts left across the parallel tracks, directly in front of the tram); although the majority of these impacts happens under 15 MPH, the car is always totalled – and this is from a single-car, extremely lightweight train with oversized brakes; normal trains happen to be rather worse in these aspects.

In other words, cars are built for car-vs-car survivability, not car-vs-train; you may be confusing them with main battle tanks.

  25. Pancho says:

    that’s chuck norris

  26. Ada says:

it seems to me that they are all idiots. the red car started the gate rush the van followed and the bike was moving to go through after the van, the van just stalled stopping the bike and making the passenger an idiotic hero.

who knows, if the van had made it, he could have ended up on the tracks without enough time to get through.

  27. Bernie says:

This made me proud of this man, whoever he may be may God honor you.

  28. Oliiiiie says:

I like how the guy on the bike just backs away like, “I don’t want his guts to fly all over me.”

  29. Mystyc Vegeta says:

uau… sincerely wow… all the respect for this man who risked his life to save possibly someone he didn’t even know

  30. Mootjeuh says:

that was actually me. thanks everybody :)

  31. StephakneeSays says:

    Who doesn’t like this?!

  32. Sorry, but the guy was an idiot to try and rescue the van. Sometimes, it’s just not worth being the good samaritan when you can get killed yourself.

  33. mpmark says:

wheres the i like trains guy when you need him?

  34. Uber-nerd-zorz says:

The footage was clearly sped up to intentionally mislead viewers that the danger was much higher in the .gif. If it was actually as fast as it seems in the gif, yeah the guy would have been an idiot. But it wasn’t.

    • yE says:

It’s not the fact that he would have gotten hit and not hurt, it’s the fact that it was moving much slower giving him a greater chance to avoid the incoming vehicle.

In the gif he looks like he has lightning reflexes, in the video he looks like he has normal reflexes.

  35. Needs Medal says:

I do believe that the he should me rewarded. The least that can be done being the idiot that was driving, should pay him around 5000$

  36. L says:

What if the guy wanted to suicide ?

  37. Sage says:

    reposted..

  38. Jack says:

The train wasn’t moving that fast, unless anyone was in the back, The people would only be injured pretty bad.

  39. ngjan says:

They didn’t speed up the gif, gifs are always kinda fast

  40. lakai_ says:

why did the driver of the white car not off the car?

  41. Paul says:

Why did the Freight not stop at the crossing?

I’m sure they will be more careful in the future. That was close.
Very brave and could be considered foolish at the same time.

    • me says:

Not sure about Argentina, but where I’m from, trains don’t stop at crossings, that’s why there are warning lights, etc.

    • MagicNein says:

Trains aren’t the same as buses or cars, and can take up to a Mile to stop fully. And Freight Trains probably don’t stop until they reach their destination.

  42. count g0lden says:

Only have one thing to say…. That is my new idol, greatest man alive ^^

  43. Irrational_Logic says:

Who the hell gave this a thumbs down?!?!

  44. Abbey says:

He was saving the lives of the people on the train, not in the van!

  45. Kewit says:

The guy in the van better have bought this dude a steak dinner or something, seriously.

  46. Random Nerd says:

The worst part of this is that the jerk in the van just left. No thanks, no wow man you just saved my f**king life, no nothing. He just drove away. (I’m from Argentina, I saw this on the news)

  47. ImVeryGroovy says:

    Epic Win!

As the guy gets off the bike: “c’mon we have to help these people!”
    *Bike backs away to safety*

  48. Ticia says:

Am I the only one wondering (and I wonder it each time I see a video or gif of this) why the guy pushing the car didn’t just keep pushing the car or keep running to other side of the tracks? Why did he run back?

I want to yell, “YOU CLEARED THE TRACKS STUPID! STAY WHERE YOU ARE!”

    • Rachael says:

In order to push the car you would need to lean into the car. The train isn’t just the width of the tracks, he had to push it further. The reason he ran back was because he had no time to push the van even further, and since the van was already safe he jumped back instead.

  49. Beebo says:

The point being: Would you have f***king done the same thing? Guy is awesome.

  50. un1k3n says:

Someone get that man a cerveza.

I love the video version where he high-fives his buddy on the bike afterward as if to say “Yeah, I’m the man!,” then hugs him as if to say, “Sweet, I’m still alive!”

  51. The Game says:

wow does this guy have knee problems because he must from lugging arounf the weight of his massive balls

  52. nield says:

Duke Nukem’s balls got nothin’ on this guy.
