Is that ruapehu in the background? I’m guessing this was taken somewhere outside of tongariro national park? Any Kiwis know? Damn I miss NZ. Awesome photo!
Pretty sure that’s Mt Ngauruhoe (Ruapehu has a flat cone, Tongariro has a smoother slope), although I could be mistaken…

Geez, I’ve only left NZ about two months ago and already I can’t tell if this is Mt Taranaki of Ngauruhoe. And I even climbed Taranaki*

nah man, that’s Ngauruhoe, beside Ruapehu. Taranakis quite a different shape, more spread out and peaky.

Woooo! This is my photo! Im so stoaked to get on here. Yea its Ngauruhoe aka Mt Doom. I took this 2 years ago when I was living in Taumaranui and was bored one Sunday afternoon so decided to go on a photo trip to National Park.
Ya Ngauruhoe makes sense, next to Ruapehu. At least I got the tongariro park part right! I knew the terrain looked familiar. I’m just a bloody yank afterall and its been about 8 years since the last time I visited NZ.
